Why stress is so harmful and unhealthy for us?Why do we have connection our mind and body?

Stress is the failure of the body to respond properly to
physical or emotional or outside stimuli. The connection between the mind and the body
is very real. Stress can affect our mood and lead to depression, poor outlook, over or
under eating, dizziness, chest pains, panic attacks, self mutilation, sleep
disturbances, substance abuse, and other symptoms. In life, we are all faced with
stress. The body will usually release the hormone adrenaline which triggers the fight or
flight response. Next, we usually react in ways to protect the body. However, in
prolonged stress, resistance occurs next and the body tries to cope with prolonged
stress. If the stress continues to be present, exhaustion can occur because the body has
used up all of its resources to cope. A person at this point can become physically and
or mentally ill. Therefore, there is a real powerful connection between the body and
mind.
