How do Gene and Finny act as foils to each other in A Separate Peace?What are specific examples from the text?

Gene is focused on his academics and doesn't put much
stock in athletics.  He is studious, concientious, responsible, and careful.  He thinks
his decisions through and is calculated with every
move.


Finny puts his emphasis on athletics and puts little
effort into his studies.  He is carefree, fun loving, aloof, and fearless.  He is
spontaneous and shows no fear of authority figures or any consequences for that
matter.
