i'm A jAIN. NEAREST TEMPLE is A 200 mile trip i am elderly AFRAID TO MAKE THE TRIP. CAN I EXPECT MY RIGHTS TO RELIGION TO BE...

Your right to religion guarantees your right to believe
anything you wish; however it does not guarantee your right to practice it any way you
wish. The distance to your nearest temple is obviously a hindrance; but you do not have
a "right" to be provided transportation to the temple.

In
Reynolds vs. United States (1878) the Supreme Court held that the
Government could legitimately prevent the practice of polygamy, even if ones religious
belief allowed it. The court reasoned that if the practice of religion were protected by
the First Amendment, then the practice of human sacrifice would arguably be protected.
So, please feel free to practice your religion in any manner you see fit; but you will
have to get to the nearest Temple yourself if you are to attend.
