solve for x and y : 3x-7y = -12 2x+4y = 3

3x -7y =
-12..........(1)

2x+4y =
3.............(2)

We need to find x and y by solving the
system.

We will use the elimination method to find x and
y.

We will multiply (1) with -2 and (2) with
3.

==> -2*(1) ==> -6x +14y =
24

==> 3 *(2) ==>  6x + 12y =
9

Now we will add both
equations.

==> 26y=
33

==> y=
33/26

==> Now we will substitute into (2) to find
x.

==> 2x + 4y =
3

==> 2x + 4( 33/26) =
3

==> 2x + 132/26 =
3

==> 2x = 3- 132/26 =
-54/26

==> x = -54/52
=-27/26

Then the answer is the pair ( -27/26,
33/26)
