How are the humans shown in chapter 6 of Animal Farm?

The humans that are depicted in the sixth chapter might be
bad, but their deception is nowhere close to Napoleon and the pigs.  The humans are
shown to be one step slower than the animals.  For example, Whymper is used by Napoleon
to broker deals with other farms.  Jones is pretty much resigned to not getting his farm
back, and Napoleon is able to play Pilkington and Frederick against one another.  The
pigs, specifically Napoleon and Snowball, are the power brokers.  They are the ones who
are able to manipulate people and situations to their advantage.  The humans, once seen
as this very essence of power, now seem to occupy a tangential role.  However, they are
used by the pigs as an example of the ultimate evil.  This is done to mask to the true
evil of the pigs, who begin to reveal themselves as completely violating the spirit of
Animalism that is revealed in this section.  The humans are benign, by comparison, to
the malignancy of the pigs in chapter 6.
