There are a couple of challenges here. The first is that
you are not going to find the essay written for you here. Tips and suggestions would be
better for you given this forum. Additionally, I think that you need to clearly
identify what you are comparing and contrasting. There are many elements from which you
can choose given the story. Perhaps, you could compare Connie at the start of the story
to Connie at the end of it. There is much in terms of richness in character that is
present there. You might also want to compare the narrative tone from the beginning to
the end. Another potential topic would be to compare how Arnold Friend starts off his
relationship with Connie and how he ends it. There is a certain level of fright present
in how this transformation takes place. I think that the most rich area of comparing
and contrasting comes in the form of the relationship between Arnold and Connie because
it reflects the movement from hunter to hunted. At the start, Connie appears to be in
total control and feels that she can handle the situation. However, this is something
that is challenged by the gravity of the setting and the emotional dynamic that is
present, one that indicates that she is not in control and that Arnold is. This, of
course, possesses the sad ending that befalls upon Connie and all of those who make a
dreadful miscalculation.
