What are the impact of batteries in the rural areas?Primary and secondary batteries.

Batteries are a form of supply of electrical power.  They
have a major impact in all areas. Batteries are used for starting vehicles.  Batteries
are used in all forms of communication devices.I remember when my parents had the first
telephone installed in our farm home in NH.  The batterybox that contained the four
large "dry cells" was larger than the phone box ( a hand crank affair)  Every cell phone
uses batteries.  So, the impact is tremendous.  Transportation, comunication and power
equipment to help with the daily work load generally rely on
batteries

With the rapidly expanding use of solar power to
recharge the batteries the future use of electrical devices in remote or rural areas,
appears to me to be a growing field of usage for batteries.
