Create a new character who is real or imagined, has a distinct manner of behaving or style of talking and is not an existing character. As literary...

To complete this part of your assignment, I would make
sure to keep the other prerequisites in mind so that your character will feed right into
the rest of the assignment.

Since the character will be
involved in a current-events issue, makes sure the character has some background that
will help him or her in facing this issue. For instance, if you use Anne Tyler as the
model for your writing, make sure there are diverse characters surrounding your major
character; he or she needs to face conflict. Main character should be quirky and
surrounded by others who are the same. Give your character room to change, and who allow
that the protagonist will generally be a better person by the end of the
story.

Using Anne Tyler's style, provide that your main
character has plans for his life, but something comes up and everything is different.
Make sure he/she is a little naive at the beginning. Provide him with a challenge that
needs to be faced, primarily because of the other parameters the assignment has given
you. Allow your character to grow. If you have a friend that won't mind, you might be
able to model your character from him/her because you know that person well. In this
final part, you character needs to have an unusual manner of speaking or behaving,
perhaps he or she cannot speak in complete sentences, and rarely a full sentence ever
comes out of his mouth. He might act in an unusual way, instead. Maybe he is paranoid,
always looking behind himself, and taking home a new route every day. Pair this up with
news of an exposed conspiracy in the news, and the character can feed off of
that.

Perhaps the most difficult part of an assignment is
that you are given so many choices. When we cannot make choices, we feel controlled and
trapped, but when we are given limitless possibilities we sometimes are
overwhelmed.

Make sure your character is in keeping with
all the sections assigned, and you should do fine.
